Tom completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2005. From there, he began his career in customer service before launching into a career in pharmaceutical research.

While he planned to grow a career in research, the Great Recession impacted the sustainability of that desire and he made a decision to pivot into financial services. He obtained an insurance license in 2011 and began a career as a financial advisor in 2012, after passing the FINRA Series 7 and 66 exams. He worked for a major insurance company and later, a major investment firm, eventually earning a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor certification in 2014. During this time, Tom helped hundreds of people learn basic financial and investment principles, and provided advice pertaining to insurance, banking, retirement and estate planning, and college planning.

 

While Tom is not currently FINRA-registered and no longer maintains the CRPC designation, he continues to be passionate about helping others make sound financial decisions, especially as it pertains to insurance. Since 2016, Tom has specialized in helping families with life and Medicare insurances as an independent broker* and now offers individual and family health insurance plans through Covered California. He also consults businesses on putting together custom benefits packages to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. Tom enjoys dry humor and generally has a positive outlook on life. He married his beautiful wife, Kelley in 2005 and they have 3 children together. As a family, they love being out and about in San Diego, enjoying the climate and outdoor sports. In whatever spare time is available, Tom loves playing guitar, going to concerts, and is very active in his church.
